Hey everybody,
With the July NPTE now well in the rear-view mirror, it becomes time to refocus and redirect for the next NPTE on October 30, 2013. As I wrote in my last post, for those of you who did not pass the exam, it can be very discouraging. I have spoken with numerous students who have varying experiences, including some who have taken the NPTE up to 10 different times. I’m sure that can be very disheartening to fail the NPTE, but I am always impressed at their ability to pick themselves back up and try again. There are numerous occasions in history of immensely successful individuals who turned major failures into temporary setbacks.
All of that being said, I am moving forward with the Mastermind Study Groups (MSG) 2013 program. I have had several students email me to ask what was going on with it, and I feel that I should explain.
- I am very concerned about delivering ultra-high quality content in a mentored environment. I have been trying out several different conferencing programs that each have their shortcomings, but I have finally found one that I believe will be acceptable. I feel that for a mentored study program to truly deliver, it must provide not just good content, but ease of use.
- I have been concerned about creating a mentored study group that will address ALL of the concerns of the participants. Each student who emails me gives me details of their unique situation, including their areas of weakness on the NPTE. I feel that I have finally been able to address the weaknesses of ALL the participants by creating a syllabus and study guide that is combined with individual attention through email. Each live video session will include a lecture of related material from the week’s assignments with special attention paid to the areas that the students have requested in individual emails. Thus, I can combine the needs of the group and the needs of the individual.
- I am concerned about the amount of content to review. The FSBPT content outlines are broad and describe general concepts. I have created a syllabus from their content outlines that will cover all of the most important material as it is described on FSBPT.
- I wanted this to be DIFFERENT from the plain vanilla studying that is currently being done. This is a high-protein, high-octane study group that will cover things quickly and completely. No other study program takes students through training of this intensity over such a prolonged period.
I don’t want this to sound like a big sales pitch. My job is to provide ultra-high quality content for students preparing to take the NPTE, and I feel that this is an excellent way to deliver that content. Other projects I have include a podcast, an email study course, video study modules, a full study guide, and much more. I have a great duty to all of my readers to help them rock the National Physical Therapy Exam. I love teaching, and this gives me a great opportunity to share what I know and make a difference in people’s lives. Honestly, what you’re doing is changing your family tree. I have spoken with numerous foreign-trained physical therapists who want to make a better life for themselves in the U.S.A. This test isn’t just affecting their personal lives—it is changing the lives of their children for generations to come. It gives me great satisfaction to know that I’ve helped someone start a long and rewarding career in physical therapy.
As always, I wish you all the best in studying. If you already have a study program, or just want to shoot me an email, I love answering questions and hearing your stories. Keep up the great work!

Mow many times can take the NPTA board exam for life time
I think 18 is the lifetime limit, but each state can set their own limits.
